failure. She is mostly blind and deaf, and lately has a hard time getting around. Her Mom and Dad have to be out of town this week, and she has (not coincidentally) chosen this week to make her transition from this world into the next. Amelia's family wants her death to be peaceful and natural, and I am doing my best to support them and her in this wish.
Each day this week brought a new challenge for Amelia: increasing difficulty getting up to walk to the litterbox, refusing food and finally today even water wasn't welcomed. Making my late-night visit to her, I had found that Amelia had crept off of her bed and was on the floor. This may have been for a purpose, to allow her body temperature to fall. This is a necessary part of her transition. It appeared that her death was getting close. I knew we were in for a big experience this evening....
