I had a brainstorm in the pet food aisle of the grocery one day. What are treats but food with different flavors that you feed in small amounts, eh? So, I snagged a can of cat food that had a $2 off coupon for Purina ONE dry food on it, and I checked out the shelf of ONE products. The 3.5 lb bags were on sale (with my grocery store card) for $6.99. With my coupon I got a bag of the 'NEW' Smart Blend Salmon & Tuna flavor.....real salmon #1 ingredient. If my math is right, I got a huge amount of 'treats' for about 9 cents an ounce.
I keep the big bag in the freezer and fill up a small bowl with the 'treat' food, to use as bribes when needed. I can also refill the small cylinder-shaped container the treats usually come in, so they hear the rattling noise as usual. Sneaky mom.....happy kitties.
PS--Thanks to the friends at Cattails who found a home for the kids' brother 'Nod' renamed Sonny, and for trying so hard for these two, who never were quite 'ready' for adoption. LOL....Special thanks to their webmaster Herman, who took these super photos and was one of Blinky & Winky's 'friendly visitors.'
